My Tasmanian Bluegums Keep Me Guessing
By Melanie JohnstoneAustralia
One of my favorite trees on our property is a Tasmanian Bluegum. I have lived on this property for thirty-one years and worked here six years prior, so I think he is at least thirty-seven years old.
Tasmanian Bluegum trees shed a lot of bark and limbs! We have another five of these trees. I always get told by the trees what year they are going to drop a limb in a certain season – usually summer. They keep me guessing which tree and I don’t know which one, however it always eventuates.
The previous owners planted them. They were planted in a laneway where we walk the horses to their paddocks. Thankfully, everyone, and the fences mostly, has always been ok when the limbs have dropped. It would have been ideal had these beauties been planted further away from the laneway, however, I am in constant communication with them and they have provided the horses with wonderful shade and me with awe and comfort.
